What’s new in tvOS 26.4 so far
1) “Continuous Audio Connection” aims to tackle home-theater audio glitches
The headline addition in early builds is a new setting called Continuous Audio Connection, designed to keep a Dolby MAT audio link steady “for glitch-free playback across formats,” even when content switches between stereo, 5.1, and Atmos. Apple notes older receivers may show an Atmos connection indicator while the original mix remains unmodified.
The feature is drawing attention from users with Sonos + AV receiver setups, where some report it reduces issues like pops, dropouts, or volume inconsistencies—though others say stereo playback can behave oddly while the setting is enabled, underscoring its beta status.
2) iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps are removed
tvOS 26.4 also continues Apple’s retirement of the iTunes brand by removing the standalone iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps. Going forward, browsing and purchasing are directed through the Apple TV app instead.
Availability
Apple has not announced a final public release date for tvOS 26.4, but the update is currently available as developer and public betas.
