2016 was a good year for the world’s billionaires

After a decrease of fortunes in 2015, 2016 is a good year for the world’s billionaires, with their fortunes increases by $237 billionss, according to the Bloomberg ranking of the richest personalities in the world. An increase of 5.7%, for a total of 4.400 billion dollars.

Bill Gates is still in the top of the billionaires, thanks in particular to the good performance of the Microsoft share. Its fortune increased by 9.8 billion dollars, reaching 91 billion dollars.

Warren Buffett, who took advantage of the good performances of his company Berkshire Hathaway after the victory of Trump, ranks second, with more than 73.4 billion dollars (+ 19%).

Amancio Ortega, the founder of Zara clothing chain and richest person in Europe, remained the third in the Bloomberg index. Although loosing 1.7 billion dollars in 2016, he is still third richest person in the world with 71.6 billion dollars.

The fourth place is occupied by Jeff Bezos, chairman and largest shareholder of Amazon (66.6 billion dollars), followed by Mark Zuckerberg, who runs Facebook (50.5 billion dollars). Sixth in the ranking, the businessman Carlos Slim is among the losers of 2016, posting a loss of about 3 billion dollars, to 49.9 billion dollars.

Charles Koch, chairman and chief executive officer of Koch Industries, ranks 7th with 45.7 billion dollars, followed by his brother David Koch, vice president of the same company, with 45.7 billion dollars.

Larry Ellison, founder and largest shareholder of Oracle, ranks 9th with 41.8, billion dollars, and the latest in top 10 is Larry Page, chief executive officer of Alphabet, the holding company for Google, with 40.3 billion dollars.
