Good news for MS Office 365, it brings now more money for Microsoft than all other installed Office packages.
This is due mainly on the shift in the Microsoft’s philosophy of selling it, from the traditional sale to monthly or yearly subscriptions.
“We’re taking that learning of the past 18 months and really applying it at a broader scale across the salesforce—to put those resources where we feel confident that they’ll have a good long-term return in that next phase of transformation,” said Amy Hood, Microsoft’s chief financial officer.
Office 365 is the brand name for formulas that lease the latest version of Microsoft Office (PC or Mac installation, as well as mobile devices), a set of Cloud services (such as OneDrive, Exchange Online, Skype Enterprise, SharePoint Online, Yammer, etc.) in a monthly or annual subscription, as opposed to the so-called perpetual Office 2016 licenses, which settle for an indefinite period on a single computer at a time. Office 365 is a daughter brand of Office and brings together different offers for individuals, small and large companies. Each Office 365 license is attached to a user (identified by its Office 365 ID and Password) and no longer to a machine.
