One of the main attractions of the show will be a new presentation of Marvel’s Wolverine, the upcoming third-person action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games. Sony says the broadcast will offer a closer look at Logan’s brutal combat style and reveal new details about the title, which is scheduled to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15.

The event arrives during a busy period for the games industry, as major publishers prepare summer showcases and new announcements for the second half of the year. State of Play has become one of Sony’s key formats for presenting upcoming PlayStation titles, combining first-party updates with trailers and reveals from third-party partners.

In addition to the online stream, Sony has announced special State of Play watch parties at selected Alamo Drafthouse cinemas in the United States, including locations in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Raleigh and the San Francisco Bay Area. Tickets are free but limited.

While Sony has confirmed Marvel’s Wolverine as the opening highlight, the rest of the lineup remains under wraps. Fans are expecting a mix of new trailers, gameplay demonstrations, release dates and possible surprise announcements for games coming to PS5.

The June State of Play follows the February 2026 edition, which featured more than an hour of announcements, trailers and updates for titles including 007 First Light, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Control Resonant and other PlayStation-related projects.

Sony has also warned co-streamers and content creators that the broadcast may include copyrighted music or other licensed content, which could affect archived videos or reposted segments.

Sources also note Sony’s related pre-show hardware news, including August launches for the FlexStrike fight stick and a 27-inch PlayStation-branded gaming monitor. (theverge.com)
