China – Central and Eastern Europe Economic Forum – China and Romania develop the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation

Prime Minister of Republic of China, Li Keqiang, is coming today in Bucharest in an official visit in response to the invitation of Victor Ponta during his visit to Beijing in July 2013. He will be accompanied by an important delegation of government and business.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral political relations, politically, economically and in other areas, within the framework of partnership and friendship between Romania and the Republic of China, and in preparation for the anniversary, in 2014, of 65 years of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the signing of the partnership.

Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, and counterparts from 16 countries in Central and Eastern Europe (Romania , Bulgaria , Poland , Hungary , Slovakia , Czech Republic, Slovenia , Serbia , Montenegro, Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Estonia , Albania , Latvia , Lithuania and the Republic of Macedonia), together with 1,000 representatives of private and public companies, meet Tuesday in Bucharest to discuss, negotiate and conclude important agreements.

The third edition of the China- Central and Eastern Europe Economic and Trade Forum takes place on Tuesday in Bucharest, after the first edition was held in Budapest in 2011 and the second in Warsaw in 2012.

This is the first visit of Premier Li Keqiang in Central and Eastern Europe after taking office in March this year. It will also be the first visit by a Chinese premier in Romania in the last 19 years.

The Forum in Bucharest has five major themes: energy, agriculture, tourism, IT&C, and infrastructure.
