Jackie Chan was celebrated at Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival, receiving the Pardo alla Carriera (Career Leopard) on Aug. 9 in front of a packed Piazza Grande—an official nod to his six decades of reinvention in action cinema. Festival organizers announced the honor in the spring, and coverage from the scene captured a rapturous reception for the 71-year-old star.

The tribute followed Chan’s return to the dojo in Karate Kid: Legends, which pairs him on screen with Ralph Macchio for the first time. The film opened May 30 and has earned about $117 million worldwide ($52.5 million domestic), extending the franchise to a new generation; it later rolled out to streaming after its theatrical run.
Looking ahead, Chan has kept the door open to revisiting some of his biggest Hollywood hits, joking about his age while teasing that Rush Hour 4 talks are still alive. No dates are set, but the star’s 2025 lap—career prize, a crowd-pleasing franchise return, and fresh project chatter—suggests he isn’t slowing down.
