A new life (3)

“How old is he? I think the best would be to be licensed, and PhD student. Intellectual and a rich man. Yes.”

Dan noted conscientious in the notebook on the desk.

“White, Black, or Asian? Let be White, to have no problems with any restriction anywhere. And to live in a big city, no failure that is not known by others. A city to know somewhat, if questioned. Lucky for me I spent an entire summer in New York. That should be.”

And now, the pictures. He had to find an unknown but pleasant figure, with picture in various situations, and about 25 years old. He searched for two hours with Google, to find something that would fit. Opened Photoshop and tried to see if it’s easy to change the image. It’s ok. Lucky for him. He could not leave the original pictures, someone vould find at a time out whose they are, and should be given further trouble. He downloaded all of them in a folder of laptop to have them at hand.

“Ready! The remaining I’ll solve along the way.”

He opened the browser and typed Facebook.com.

“Aha! They want my phone or email. The phone I will fix tomorrow, I will take a prepaid card. Now let’s see how is working with the email. I need to make a new email address, that only I know about it.”

He tried with Yahoo.com. “They are stupid, too. They ask my mobile phone too, to have an email address with them.”

He found finally a free email service, and was about to sign up there, but suddenly stopped. “They automatically record the IP. And what if I later do something stupid, and someone with permission wants to see who created the email address? Piece of cake using IP. No, I have to use a proxy server to hide the place from where I enter the web email. In fact, I can dodge Facebook this way, too, to not to know from where I sign in.”

“Yes, but there’s the laptop too, with the registered ID,” Dan continues to think using the same logic. “I’m lucky with the tablet, I bought it in town last week, no one knows it’s mine.”

He opened the tablet and search for an Internet proxy server in the New York area. Hardly find it, but finally he find one. The problem was that normal proxy servers do not allow accesses on security servers. He had three options at hand: to use Wi-Fi in a public place (the worst idea in the long term, it can be easily located the geographical area), to use a Secure Connection service, or to bypass restrictions of the proxy servers, he was doing quite well on the Internet to succeed. He opted for the latter solution, and created the email address as Dorian Townsend. Then he went to Facebook and signed up usimg the new email address and the new name. He set the password “Helen” to remember any moment why he was here.

It had been two days since Dan had created his first Facebook account without even having entered into it out of curiosity, to see what is there. An evening he was meeting with his friends at a friendly poker party (his mother knew that he was playing bridge), and the other night he had to go with his parents to visit another family. Their daughter, Oana was classmate with him and had said to his parents that she will be waiting on him. A dull girl, nor ugly nor beautiful, who could not wait to finish high school to get married and have children. He bored to death.

Today, at the end of classes, he saw Helen and felt an empty stomach though stronger than ever. Helen not even notice him.

How can the world be so gray ?!

Since he came home from school he was closed in his room and stayed for a few hours stretched out on the bed, looking out on the ceiling. He did not feel anything. At the insistence of his mother, who called him a few times, he went to the kitchen, ate hurriedly and quickly took refuge in his room on the pretext of difficult homework that must finish today.

He opened reluctantly the laptop, and pressed the button of the browser automatically out of habit. It opened as usual with the last page visited before being closed. He saw the sign up page of Facebook, and remembered the new account on the tablet. Pushed the laptop to a corner of the office and opened the tablet.
