Razz is a seven-card stud in which is played ace to five low.

The course of the game is done in the same way as Seven-card stud. However, as the play here is for the low hand, the bring-in is done by the player with the highest card (in case of a tie the color matters, in descending order: spades ♠, heart ♥, diamonds ♦, clubs ♣). In the second round of betting, then it is the lowest hand to speak first. In this variation, colors and straights do not count as high hands. The lowest card being the ace and the highest being the king.

The best hand, the wheel, is A, 2,3,4,5. Next is A, 2,3,4,6 etc …
It is essential for beginners to understand that comparing two hands is starting with the highest card! So 10-4-3-2-As is beaten by 8-7-6-4-3.
