Very few children adopted in Romania in 2013

A sad end of year balance comes from the Romanian Office for Adoptions: only 580 of the 2,241 orphans have found a family. Meanwhile, on the waiting list there are 1,500 families willing to adopt a little abandoned child. This, taking into consideration that in Romania more than 60,000 children live in state care.

Among them, 20,000 are still living in orphanages, and the others to foster parents.

While announcing the new revolutionary adoption law, the results are modest. Only 2,241 children were adoptable in 2013, and only a quarter were actually adopted.
