A publishing house is a company or an association whose original core business is the production and distribution of books or laid out documents. Today, the publishing business generally includes editing documents with all media as the heart of the book business at large industry (notebooks connected, catalogs, booklets, albums, files, etc.).
A publishing group includes several publishing houses or subsidiaries. The nationality of a group depends on that of the owner and/or principal office.
In the table below, the turnover is expressed in millions of euro. This figure includes only the book branches and departments and affiliates, such as generally expressed a detailed assessment, published by the auditors and made available to the public. Some companies are little or poorly communicating their structural data.
From a geographical and financial point of view, this table shows that Europe clearly dominates the market for books and publishing in general, with a cumulative total volume of more than 28 billion (2009).
