National Anticorruption Directorate asked the permission of the President, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies and the European Parliament, for criminal prosecution where nine former ministers had committed crimes during mandates, with Microsoft licenses for schools. Bribery is the order of tens of millions of dollars. Here is the list of prosecuted ministers:
ECATERINA ANDRONESCU, former Minister of Education. Charges of abuse of office, bribery, influence peddling and money laundering.
VALERIAN VREME , Minister of Communications and Information Society in September 2010 – February 2012. Charges of abuse.
PETRU ŞERBAN MIHĂILESCU, Minister Coordinator of General Secretariat of Government during December 2000 – October 2003. Charges – incitement to abuse of office, nepotism and money laundering.
DAN NICA, Minister of Communications and Information Technology during 2000 – July 2004. Charges – abuse of office, bribery, trading in influence and money laundering.
ADRIANA ŢICĂU, Minister of Communications and Information Technology during July-December 2004. Charges – abuse of office, bribery, influence peddling, money laundering.
GABRIEL SANDU, Minister of Communications and Information Society from December 2008 – September 2010. Charges – abuse of office, bribery, trading in influence and money laundering.
PETER – DANIEL FUNERIU, Minister of Education and Research from 2009 – 2012. Charges – abuse of office.
ALEXANDRU ATHANASIU, Minister of Education and Research 2003 – 2005 Charges – abuse of office, bribery, trading in influence and money laundering.
MIHAI NICOLAE TĂNĂSESCU, Minister of Finance between 2000 -2004. Charges – abuse of office, bribery, trading in influence and money laundering.
Invited to the shiw “Impartial” of Digi 24 TV, Teodor Melescanu, former head of the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service, said that corruption case Microsoft Romania did not start in Romania but the United States, specifically the FBI. He said that research is currently being conducted not only in Romania. Therefore, the politician explains investigation targeting new former ministers will not go out easily and can not be suspected to have been started politically, as to believe in other cases.
