Geography

Cities

Write Bucharest for Bucureşti, but use the native forms in all other cases.

Be aware that Hungarian texts may use the Hungarian names for places in Romania, referring to Miercurea Ciuc as Czíkszereda, Timişoara as Temesvár, Oradea as Nagyvárad or Cluj-Napoca as Kolozsvár. Similarly, German texts may use the German names, referring to Sibiu as Hermannstadt or Braşov as Kronstadt. Particular care should be taken with border towns and villages, such as Urziceni (Hungarian: Csanálos) and Curtici (Hungarian: Körtös). Always use the Romanian names when writing in English.
